Walking down the slope in Araki-cho, you can find a small shrine at the end of the slope. Many lanterns were hung in the shrine. This area was one of the former Hanamachi, Japanese geisha districts. Yet it is now packed with the normal bars, restaurants and apartments.

This shrine is dedicated to Ukanomitama which is associated with food and agriculture. The hope of receiving enough food is compelling all through the ages.
