The man stopped chatting
The man in the photo was standing talking with his friends by the roadside. When I approached him, he stopped talking and watched me. Although he seemed to be interested in my camera, his friend was not.
While he gazed at my gear, his friends looked the other way. Despite the unconcern of his friend, he kept watching me while I held my camera. Perhaps he didn't enjoy talking with his friends and my appearance might be a convenient excuse to stop talking.
