After a 30-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, I finally arrived at the village of Maligcong. The village was surrounded by mountains, and the people's houses were clustered together on a small patch of flat land in the middle. The surrounding slopes were covered with rice terraces.

Many rice terraces in this region are registered as a World Heritage Site, but for some reason, the Maricon rice terraces are not included in the Philippine Cordillera Rice Terraces. Nevertheless, the scale was large.

The rice in the terraced paddy fields was beginning to ripen and the harvest time was approaching. It must be difficult to harvest rice in terraced paddies built on such a slope as no machinery can be brought into the fields, so everything must be done by hand.
