As I was walking through the residential area of Berhampore with my SLR camera in hand, children gathered around me as usual. In the Indian countryside, children gather around me just because I have an SLR camera in my hand. It's like an insect light.

The children who gathered stopped in front of me and watched my every move. Their curious gazes pierce me in many lines. As if in response, I look at each child's face. Then I noticed a girl staring at me while brushing her teeth.

Even though she didn't know what was going on, she guess it was different from the usual because everyone was gathered there. Maybe she thought it was not time to brush her teeth and gathered around. The girl shyly smiled when her eyes met mine, but it didn't stop her from brushing her teeth.

Traveling in India, I am often baffled by the concept of hygiene, which is different from Japan, but the custom of brushing teeth seems to be the same as in Japan. Although we don't brush our teeth outdoors much in Japan.
