Many men gathered under the roof of a shack-like cafe located along the country road
The modest hut on the side of the road in Murshidabad was a chai stand. The squall that had been pouring down earlier had long since stopped, but the men who had been sheltering from the rain continued to linger under the roof as if they were regretting their loss. All the chairs were occupied, and I could even see some of them standing. And for some reason, everyone seemed to be having no fun.
I couldn't find anyone drinking chai, and there was no sign of anyone ordering more or getting up to leave the stand. I was worried that the chai stand would lose business if this continued. Maybe the men just wanted to hang out under a roof, regardless of rain or squall.
