The rickshaw wallah was resting with his rickshaw parked by the side of the road. He may be very tired because he is looking at the traffic with powerless eyes.
So why is it that I only see rickshaws in Kolkata? In other cities, only cycle rickshaws, which are improved versions of rickshaws, are running. Cycle rickshaws are indeed more efficient than rickshaws, and they get customers to their destinations faster. But cycle rickshaws are not popular in Kolkata. Is there some kind of rickshaw association that holds the rights and interests of the rickshaw drivers? It is a bit of a mystery.
