As I was walking through the city, I passed by a diner. There were tables lined up inside, and a large pot was placed near the front entrance. I didn't look inside the pot, but it must be curry. After all, this is a restaurant in Kolkata, India, the motherland of curry.

There were two men standing at the entrance, a young man and an older man who worked at the restaurant. The older man was wearing a tank top with a lungi, a traditional costume, wrapped around his waist. There were many men wearing lungi, but here there were just as many wearing tank tops.

I looked over their heads and saw a large signboard. The sign said EATING HOUSE. It was the first time I had ever seen the word "eating house" used to describe a diner. It's an expression that we don't often use in Japan, but I guess it's a common expression in Hinglish.
