The boy who stepped forward made a delightful gesture
People walking around with SLR cameras in their hands are still a rarity in Mumbai. And what I was walking around was not a tourist attraction or anything. It must be rare to see a foreigner with an SLR camera in his hand. While I was walking around carefree, a group of children gathered.
Driven by curiosity, they approached me, but most of them just stared at me from a distance. They were intrigued, but at the same time, they did not seem to know how to interact with foreigners with whom they did not speak the language. Then one boy stepped forward and made a pleasant gesture. Everyone around me burst into laughter. It was a moment of communication. Words are not always necessary for communication.
