Before the parade proceeded into the town of Zaachila, there was a dance going on inside the church. It was a dance performed by boys dressed in traditional costumes and wearing large hats with feather decorations. Was this a dance to mark the beginning of the festival?
After a while, the dance ended and the boys came outside. All the boys were still in their costumes and wearing their big hats. The hats with feathers on them looked heavy. The boys who had finished the dance were about to leave to join the parade.
