In Tanneries, in the old city of Fez, tanning pits were densely packed in a small area surrounded by buildings
Tanneries was the leather district in the old quarter. There were many pits on the ground. These holes were tanning pits. Leathers were rinsed In every pits and many laborers were working around pits. The burning scent smelled in the air here.
