Many funeral attendants watched the ceremony
The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in the world. It is built on the banks of the Bagmati River, and the riverside is used as a crematory. This is where the bodies are burned. Like Buddhists in Japan, Hindus are cremated. The difference between Hindus and Japanese Buddhists is that here, the ashes are thrown into the river.
The people in this photo were all participants in the funeral ceremony held at this temple. The funeral itself was held inside the temple, and then the body was taken to the riverside to be cremated. The people in this photo are waiting for the body to turn to ashes, but it is difficult to burn. It's no wonder, since about 60% of the human body is water. The people gathered at the riverside were just waiting for the body to burn up.
