I met two boys on their way home from school in Bhaktapur. They were wearing school uniform and tie. Their school uniform seems to be a regimental tie.

In Nepal, which used to be a British protectorate, each school might have its own regimental tie pattern, just like British universities, so that the students can identify the school by looking at the pattern. Though the pattern on both boys was an American-style stripe that runs from the top left to the bottom right.

They also wore their ID cards around their necks, suggesting that their school was concerned about security. But what were they protecting themselves from in this idyllic country? Was it from the Unified Maoist faction of the Communist Party of Nepal?
