An elderly man wearing a traditional Newari cap called a topi was sitting in an alley in the old city of Kathmandu. In the Kathmandu Valley, many men wear this topi cap. In fact, you don't see many people wearing other kinds of caps. In the first place, the word "topi" in Nepali is said to mean a cap in general.

But even so, wearing a topi and a vest is the traditional appearance of the Newari people. So was the deeply wrinkled man in the photo. Dressed in traditional clothing, he was watching the traffic, doing nothing in particular.
