The two girls sitting on the front porch turned around
The girls were sitting on the porch chatting. When they noticed me, they turned around. One smiled back at me, but the other looked at me with her mouth gaping open. In Kathmandu, many people sit on their front porches. Some are chatting, like these girls, and others are working. It seems like it would be more comfortable to be inside the house than sitting on the porch, but in this neighborhood, many people spend their time on the porch. I wonder if they are wasting money on electricity, so they stay at the brightly lit front doorstep rather than inside their dark rooms.
