In Seremban, I passed by a store and saw several large lanterns lined up in front of it. The lanterns were so large that I was not sure if one person could hold them. A young man standing beside them was diligently tracing the Chinese characters for spring on the lanterns, one after another.

These lanterns are used to celebrate the Chinese New Year. According to the Gregorian calendar, the year had ended and the New Year had begun, but according to the Chinese calendar, the New Year had not yet arrived. For overseas Chinese, the Lunar New Year is a much more important event than the Gregorian New Year, and preparations for celebrating the coming Lunar New Year were steadily underway in Seremban. There must be a lot of overseas Chinese in this town.
