It was kind of fun to see the various deities lined up on the roof of the Hindu temple
Although the majority of Sri Lankans are Buddhists, there are also a small number of Hindus. Therefore, when walking around town, one may see Hindu temples, although they are much less common than Buddhist temples. This photo was taken at one of the Hindu temples I saw while walking around Kandy.
Hinduism is a polytheistic religion, so there are many gods standing on the roof of the temple. Some of the gods were holding musical instruments and seemed to be having a lot of fun. This kind of jumbled decoration on the roof of a temple is called the Dravidian style. Among the gods, there might be Shiva and Ganesha, who are also famous in Japan, but I had no idea who they were.
