The older woman was smiling behind the boy, who was standing upright with a serious face
After walking along the main road stretching through Luang Nam Tha towards the outskirts of town, I arrived at a small Buddhist temple built in the countryside. When I thought no one was around, I found an elderly woman and a young boy relaxing in the temple grounds. They looked as if they were having a picnic next to the shrine.
They seemed to be a grandmother and her grandson. When I pointed my camera at them, the boy made a serious face and stood erect. The expression on his face showed that he was not used to having his picture taken. Behind the boy who was looking straight at me, the grandmother was smiling bitterly.
