After the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese were absorbed into Western culture. Various leading-edge techniques were imported to this country. Along with the technology, western art was also imported by the affluent population. This museum was built by one of the well-to-do persons. It was the first collection of Western art to be permanently exhibited in this country.

A yellow flower of the lotus was blooming in the garden of the museum. Although the collections of this museum were amazing, the sweetness of this flower did not to be outdone.
