The couple was walking hand in hand on the lawn of Shinjuku Gyoen Park.
I was relaxing in what is called an English-style garden in Shinjuku Gyoen Park. The lawn was laid out and there was a lot of space here. When you think of a garden, you think of something manicured, but here, there is nothing but a lawn and nothing else. I was worried that the English would be offended if they heard that this was an English garden.
As I stood still, a couple came into view. The woman was wearing a wide brimmed hat. They were holding hands in a friendly manner as they made their way across the lawn. They seemed to be heading for the exit. After a moment of rest, they would return to the hustle and bustle of the city.
