I feel he is contemplating the meaning of those spirals before him and the long journey taken by small steps. We could all do with such thoughts in these harried times . . .

You are so correct! Beautiful shot, too.

hello tetsu, how are you? :)

as always love the story within your every photos and this one is very contrast. the monk vs original people...

The focus and DOF on this is perfect. I love the light, shadows and detail of the robe - I feel like I can reach out and touch it. Beautiful.

I liked Micki's comment, I thought he was texting someone or perhaps playing on his Gameboy. Nice tension between tradition and modern culture.

Thanks Budi, Jonathan and Keith!!

Great image. You have captured a sense of isolation in a crowded place, that is incredible. Very nice depth of field.

this is very neat. like the story that is in the photo.

Hi Tetsu, I have been away getting married and haven't been by for a week... And look at the shots I've missed.
I like the focus on him but do you have any of his face? I like the question presented by him here, now and would like to see his eyes. Is he a young monk or older with great wisdom... ponder the possibilities... hmmm...
Jeff

Thanks C2photo, Armeen and Jeff!!
Umm. I didn't shoot his face.... He was a middle-aged monk. :-)

Nice isolation of the monk. I like the space ahead of him. Solid B&W work. Your remarks are the finishing touch.

Again you gave us a master lesson of composition and emphatising by depth of field. The picture have a misterious feeling with the man hidding his face with this hat.
I have added you to my links
(hope don't mind)
