> martin said : Mar 10, 2006 16:20

tetsu, thx for visiting my site. Nice to see your calm photos as well.

> Eric at Paris Daily Photo said : Mar 10, 2006 16:40

Wow, there's either some really good soup brewing or it's awfully cold outside! Love the way the steam(?) is in the shot.

> Nocturama said : Mar 10, 2006 17:50

Nice nice black&white, me encanta y la atmósfera que has logrado genial.
Felicitaciones

> Amande said : Mar 10, 2006 18:11

"Magnifique" as I would say in French, gorgeous! What does this big cauldron contain?

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 19:07

Thanks Urbanghost, Asiko, Martin, Eric, Nocturama and Amande!!
The cauldron is so-called 'KOURO'. Incense sticks are fired in it. So steam-like smoke in the photo is incense sticks'.

> photoblaster said : Mar 10, 2006 19:21

Nice black&white shot and good control of shadow

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 19:23

Thanks Photoblaster!

> Micki said : Mar 10, 2006 20:46

What a great photo! Is this a common sight?

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 20:49

Thanks Micki!
It is an usual scene in the temple. :-)

> tobias said : Mar 10, 2006 22:29

I like this Tetsu, seems a rather poignant image. Is that a... cauldron? Lovely light, as always.

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 23:05

Thanks Tobias!
Yes. The big object is a cauldron. :-)

> roberman said : Mar 10, 2006 23:06

A curious mix of tradition and modernity. Cool!

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 23:08

Thanks Roberman!

> Still said : Mar 10, 2006 23:37

I look on your latest shots and find that a lot of them are very graphic. A kind of sculpture of the light...

> tetsu said : Mar 10, 2006 23:40

Thanks Still!

> lel said : Mar 11, 2006 00:13

I like how the steam obscures the characters in the background. It gives even more emphasis to the sharpness of the women in the foreground.

> tetsu said : Mar 11, 2006 00:13

Thanks Lel!!

> mar00ned said : Mar 11, 2006 00:55

Thanks Mar00ned!

Cauldron and steam! Hahaha Westerners are really funny! Would you kindly explain what the Japanese words in the distance mean, Tetsu?

> Louise said : Mar 11, 2006 04:26

Some very cool work on your blog. And some good memories of tokyo for me - I visited about seven years ago. It's an amazing place!

> Brent said : Mar 11, 2006 04:41

Hey, tetsu. Great capture here. The blacks are very rich in this shot. It adds a lot of drama to the frame. Feel free to swing by my way. -Brent

> Gavin said : Mar 11, 2006 05:23

I love the dynamic range in your shots! The tones in the black and white, it's just perfect. The DOF in this is brilliant, really makes the foreground stand out.

> Wilson said : Mar 11, 2006 07:26

Awesome capture. Wow, this is the best picture I seen all day. Amazing.

> tetsu said : Mar 11, 2006 09:18

Thanks PlasticTV, Louise, Brent, Gavin and Wilson!!
Japanese written in the background means lucky charms. They sell lucky charms in temples. :-)

> joel said : Mar 11, 2006 12:09

Dof vs choice of contrast and light awesomely balanced. I will have to take a more indepth visit of your page soon. later on.
