About this photo

Shot at the former house of General Nogi in Akasaka, Tokyo. Next to the shrine enshrined the general Nogi, his house was preserved. He was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army and played an active role in the Russo-Japanese War. After he died, he became a deity in Shintoism. And this shrine was built on the site which was the former his house. Before WWII, he was one of the national heroes. Yet he was unpopular after WWII because of the antimilitarism.

A figure of a woman was walking on the other side of the window of his house.
