About this photo

Shot at Jochi-ji, a Buddhist temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa. There was a tattered stone staircase at the entrance of the temple. The steps were lumpy. And an old gate stood on the top of it. I found a woman climbing the stair alone. Because of the roughness, it was necessary to be careful not to fall over halfway through the stairway. This temple was built in 1283. So this staircase could have also a long history. In the course of being used, its surface became irregularity. I wondered how many people climbed.
