The plum blossom season had come to Rikugien in Komagome. There were many plum blossoms in the garden. There were not only white flowers but also red flowers in the Japanese plum tree.
Nowadays, Hanami generally means seeing cherry blossoms, but until the Heian era (794-1185), it seemed to mean seeing plum blossoms. Gradually, cherry blossoms took over the position of cherry blossoms, and after the Edo period, it seems that cherry blossoms became the only way to view the cherry blossoms. I don't know if they know or not, but the plum blossoms are blooming this year as usual.
